LOVED A WINE?

The good folk at Glengarry have got their hands on ALL THE WINES. If you found a wine (or five) you loved, this is where you can find it. They even made a mixed six pack of People’s Choice winners, if you can’t quite decide. That might just be the best way to start a pretty killer Pinot cellar.

I’ve been involved in the hospitality & wine industry for nearly 20 years. Working in this industry has taken me from vineyards in central Victoria to the crus of France and cafés in Carlton to Michelin starred restaurants in London.

When I’m not in restaurants; drinking or working, I bike ride, keep up with politics and have a mild obsession with Netflix.

Diamond Creek Blue label Pinot Noir, 1996.

Serving wines in my first hospitality job. I thought a $45 bottle of wine was incredibly expensive until I tasted the wine. I was hooked from that point on.

I’m a sommelier at Rockpool Bar & Grill Melbourne.
I’m also a dad to a 4 month old baby called Ernie.
In my spare 2 hours a week I try to study, eat and drink. Well.

What are you working on at the moment?
My sanity.
I’m dedicating a few extra hours of revision a week to my Italian wine knowledge.

What is your favourite song of 2015 so far?

Can you remember your ‘first time’ with Pinot? What year was it? Where was it? Tell us!
Bannockburn Pinot Noir from Geelong.
This was the first Pinot that sparked my love for the variety.
I’m sure it would have been the 2008 vintage – I drank it in 2011.
I was working at Donovans in St. Kilda as a section waiter a the time.
I love all Bannockburn wines – because the taste like nothing else one earth, but Bannockburn.

What song best sums up that first time experience?

Finish this sentence: Wine and music …

What is it about Pinot Noir that gets you pumped?
It’s ability to tell stories about where it’s from. The good stuff is restrained yet hugely detailed.

By | Pinot Artists | No Comments

Here we catch up with Angie Mask from Prophets Rock in the Central Otago, NZ

Tell us about yourself!
The name ‘Prophet’s Rock’ is taken from a local landmark at the claim of pioneering goldminer Bob Prophet. It is a name that reflects our new world setting; here, we work on the margins, perched on the edge in the southernmost wine growing region on earth. Our exceptional vineyards are the foundation of our wines, and we’re fanatical about looking after them. Our journey starts in the vines, where we grow low yielding fruit with great concentration and flavour, fruit we then treat with deference.
