WE’RE BACK, BABY!

By | Palooza News | No Comments
Yep, that’s right. PINOT PALOOZA IS BACK!

This year, the Pinot Palooza tour is bigger and better than ever, happening in eight cities and two countries. That’s… drumroll please… Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, Auckland and (for the first time ever) Christchurch. And, we hit Wellington in January this year. BAM!

In those eight cities in two countries, we’ll be bringing Pinot from 21 wine regions across Australia and New Zealand. That’s Pemberton, Central Otago, Mornington Peninsula, Adelaide Hills, Tasmania, the Yarra Valley, Marlborough and WAY more. You’ll be able to taste different wines from the best regions in one place and find out what you like. And tell us! We want to know… where do you Pinot?

The food program is also bigger and better than ever before. Each city’s best restaurants, chefs and producers – including the Porteno Group, Blackbird, Fromage Artisans, Yarra Valley Dairy, Maker & Monger, Meatsmith and more – have put together killer menus designed for Pinot. There will also be plenty of beers, cider, maybe even a couple of cocktails, and DJs spinning all day long.

Pinot Palooza is WINE that ROCKS, and 2017 will sell out. Don’t miss it.

PEOPLE’S CHOICE – WELLINGTON 2017

By | Palooza News | No Comments

Not only did Wellington pop their Pinot Palooza cherry at the front of the queue, kicking off the 2017 event season early, they also scored the biggest line-up from any Pinot Palooza EVER. There were 115 producers there on the day – so the honour of being crowned the PEOPLE’S CHOICE winner is a serious coup.

Ladies, gentlemen, kiwis… You came, you drank, you voted.

The winners…

Get your hands on the wines in the Glengarry online store before they disappear!

PINOT PALOOZA NEWBIES

By | Palooza News | No Comments

We were all (Pinot Palooza) virgins once too and we recognise that wide-eyed-where-do-I-start-look…

So let us take the fear out of the 100+ wines on offer, because where do you start and whatthehellhappenshere right?!

This is how it works:
We open the door to the VIP rockstars at 11am – this is the bit where we give a handful of people free reign and they run around pouring Pinot over their bare chests.
By 1pm, we ask them to stop wasting the Pinot and freaking out the winemakers and we open up the doors to everyone.

We know you can’t survive in this Pinot party without equipment (you’re no Bear Grylls) so we equip you with:

  • 1 x Lanyard which is a handy 3pm reminder of where you are and why you came here.
  • 1 x Wrist band, which is your pass in and out of this Pinot moshpit.
  • 1 x crystal Plumm glass that’s valued at $35.00 – don’t let it out of your sight!
  • 1 x booklet that gives you all the info you might need, the wines available, who’s in the room and where to find them, and even our snapchat code so you can send us filters of your face.
  • 5-ish hours of tasting of wines. Tasting not a drinking, if you want to go the distance.
  • Love a wine? Vote for it with the iPads we’ll be walking around with.
  • Love it so much? Buy it! Spend over $250 with one wine producer and we’ll refund 50% of your ticket on the spot. Seriously.

But if you still need help, these 2 will sort you out:

ROADIE TOUR GUIDE

Some of the best sommeliers in the country are in the room and they’ll have this handy postcard in their pockets.
They’ll ask you about what type of wines you like and then direct you to 6 wineries you should try – your own personal ROADIE tour.

THERE’S ALWAYS THESE GUYS

Meet the Bottle Shop Concepts crew…  When they’re not busy organising these festivals they’re busy imbibing in all things food and beverages (mostly alcoholic ones). If you’re feeling a bit lost or confused, memorise these faces. They’ll take you under their wing and make sure you have a great time.

Finally, go the full distance.
The Daylesford and Hepburn Mineral Springs Co. water is free and plentiful – keep it within our favourite 3 letters: RSA.

THE BURG BAR

By | Palooza News | No Comments

THE BURG BAR

As if 150+ wines weren’t enough, this year, we’re mixing it up with a bunch of Hi-Fi, Lo-Fi and B-Sides in addition to a rocking playlist of wines from Pinot Noir’s spiritual homeland; Burgundy and beyond.

A little added extra on the day, and usually retailing well over $150 each, taste them at cost price (from $8), poured by some of the cities sommeliers who’ll tell you some of the stories behind them.

If you’re a VIP (you rockstar, you), one of our Sommelier ROADIES will give you a special BURG BAR tasting of 3 wines.

Yes, this is the really fancy stuff. SAH FANCY.

Tania pasteurised cows milk, microbial rennet, 4 weeks old, hot smoked in manuka wood chips, made in Dunedin. Named after a former flame of the cheesemaker, rumour has it she was smoking hot.

Mt Eliza Farmhouse Cheddar unpasteurised cow’s milk, traditional rennet, 10 mths old, made in Katikati. The revolution will not be pasteurised – a renaissance of veritable raw milk NZ cheddar.

Matariki pasteurised cow milk, traditional rennet, 5 months old, made in Nelson. Made in the tradition of a Caciotta in Camicia, this is a jacketed spiced rind with all the aroma & flavour of salami, without the salami. Impressive NZ cheese alchemy. It’s sensational.

Tinui Blue pasteurised sheeps milk, vegetarian rennet, 1 month old, made in Masterton. A savoury Roquefort clone with huge length of flavour but without the air miles.
